PS3 Near future i thinks so!

Ok funds are limited so far, and i know the PS3 (160gb) is roughly 299.99. And as any obvious gamer i want the most BANG for my buck. The following are just some questions i have and would like an opinion on.....

  1. Whats the deal with Refurbished systems?....Like i know they are "pre-owned" and all that jazz but i see game stop has a Sony Refurbished PS3 (250gb) for $279.99.....Should i even go this route?
  2. Have any of the Boys purchased any gaming merchandise online?... and if so would they suggest a site for me.
  3. Finally, im considering two "Bundle" packages...... Sony PS3 Starter Bundle (comes with ps3 160gb (my choice of with or without MW3) and a choice of one game for a list of 42) for about $329.99 ..........OR PS3 Greatest hits bundle same as above with a choice of one Greatest hits game(Killzone 2, MAG, God of War collection) and choice of game ( Ghostbusters, WWE legends of Wrestlemania, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of pray) for $319.99

  1. Ok dude, First off, im gonna say that if you can get a fatty. There are a few reasons for this #1 being with the fatty you get backwards comparability so you can play ps2 games (just make sure its a model that supports it, like an 80GB model). #2 you get more usb ports for plugging shit in like flash drives and connectors for games and cables for charging your paddles. #3 because you get memory card slots so if you want you can store media on the ps3 straight from your camera memory card without having to put it on a flash drive. #4 because the fatty's are beasts!. Now with that aside if you cant get a fatty and you have no choice but to get a slim i would say that 250GB for 279.99 is a pretty good deal i see online that they have a 500GB model (399.99) with a remote a 1 year warranty, a charging stand for 2 controllers, an HDMI cable and a skin. I would only consider this deal because of the warranty included and the free HDMI cable which if you look around you can find one for cheap but it would save you from having to do all that. I would for now say fuck the bundles that are priced at 329.99 and come with a game like MW3. If that game was coming out like in a month or two i'd say go for it but its not out for 5 months fuck that. You could buy the 250GB model and then go ahead and buy Killzone 2 or God of War collection for about 30 bones and save money rather than getting a bundle. 1 thing i always do when shopping at Gamestop is ALWAYS second guess them. They can make something sound like a good deal and sometimes it is, but most of the time if you just shop around a bit you can find a better deal or in this case make your own "bundle" rather than having them do it and save a few bones in the process. Honestly is you were to buy the 250GB model you could turn around and probably find 3-4 decent games for 50-60 bones. Might not be the hottest thing right then but thats a great deal. 4 games for $60 is $15 a game, good price. Find a couple older sports games, a decent shooter and a racing/action adventure game and that's a good start + im sure the boys will let you borrow some games. You got both Matt and Chris on ps3 so that's cool. As for online retailers I dont think there's is anyone better than Amazon.com. They have a great selection of systems games accessories and when you pre-order a game with them you usually get a $15-$20 credit towards your next purchase + release day delivery - for free or 99C - (so you get the game the day it comes out) and most of the time they have a special promotion witch gets you some exclusive content just for pre-ordering with them. So you get $20 off your next purchase, free super express delivery, and special content in the game, sweet deal. Also say you pre-order a special edition of a game for $80 and then 2 weeks later the price drops to $60 you wont to pay the $80 cause they have the lowest price guarantee thing. If you want to buy say a new hard drive or new cables for it i would go with Newegg.com. That's where I got my 500GB hard drive for only like $100 and that was 3 years ago. Both of these places have awesome shipping and its not uncommon in my experience to get a package a day or two before schedule from either retailer. I Would ask Chris (and matt) and try to confirm anything I said here and see what they think is a good deal and whatnot. Either way bro, when it happens let me know your info so we can game son!

  8. Yeah i think amazon sells new units mainly so unless they sell a fatty through a 3rdr party (another store or a person) then you probably wont find one on there. As for MW3 i honestly think it's going to be the same game as MW2, Yeah fighing in New York sounds cool but are you gonna even be able to tell its New York when you're clearing a building from the inside? not really. I'm hoping i'm wrong at that it offers more than what MW2 did but i cant be sure until i see some more gameplay and details get released later on in the year.

  9. Yo everything Ross said is true. That boy knows his shit. I can't really help you with online stuff bro, since I don't really use it. But the refurbished deal sounds good to me, the only thing is I'm not to sure about is what condition it will be in, but on the plus side, you can by a two year warranty from Sony so that might be able to help. (Yo Ross you don't need Plus for this right?) Now the bundle packages seem ok to me, but thats if they come with any games you really want. Like Ross said you could get the $280 PS3 and any game of your choice for no more then $340, thats assuming you buy one new $60 game, you could always get a few used ones. As far as the slim vs the fatty, thats up to you bro, Me and Ross have fattys and thats our preferance, but Matt has a slim and he is happy with it. BC isn't really needed bro, thats up to you and if you want to play PS2 games on your PS3. Since you don't have a PS2 anymore that might be cool for you. So dude if I was in your position I would go with the refurbished PS3 and then just buying whatever game(s) you wanted.

  10. On a side note bro, before you decide where to buy from you should browse around, like check Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Gamestop, and if Ross can give you some good online sites check those out. I would also check the websites for the stores I have listed because sometimes they only offer certain deals online and you may be able to save even more money. Now if you do decide to buy from Gamestop, and you plan on buying anything used, the system or the games, let me know and I can save you a little bit of cash because I have a gamestop card that helps when you purchase used things. (Ross, the card doesn't work for new things right?)

  11. Oh shit almost forgot, you may also want to visit a Sam's Club or any of those warehouse stores. They seem to have good deals. I remember a few months ago, I saw that you could get a PS3, with like two controllers and two games, plus the Playstation camera, I don't remember the price, but I do remeber saying that it was a good deal so I don't think it was two bad. And like Ross said, when it happens, hook me up with your PSN name so we can game son!

  12. Yeah bro. If you want to save money go with gamestop. And what you might wanna do is buy the system. Then call sony and see if they will replace it.
