Infamous 2

WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

I’ve just finished my first play through of Infamous 2 and I’ve got to say that it was an amazing ride. It may be even more so than the first game and to say that means something especially when I chose Infamous as one of my freebie game from sony even though I had played though it about 12 times and had the platinum trophy.

I feel this game accomplished what a sequel should strive for. It improved the story, gameplay, graphics and added features. The core fighting and climbing  mechanics of the game are still intact and work even better this time around. The fighting system now includes melee to easily take out multiple opponents in an easy combo system. The climbing is almost unchanged but with the addition of pipes with electric wiring cole can now shoot up the side of a building greatly cutting climbing time and in some cases skipping the climbing all together.

The story picks up exactly where Infamous left off. Cole is in the process of preparing to fight “The Beast” a towing creature of unknown origin that is wreaking havoc and destroying everything in its path. To become strong enough he’s gotta head to New Marias to meet Dr. Wolfe and form a plan to defeat the beast. However once cole gets to the city a new threat reveals itself in the form of  Joseph Betrand who controls the local militia and trying to take over the city. Cole now has to a two fronted battle, deal with Betrand and become powerful enough to fight the beast. Rather than a straight line leading to 1 final battle like with Kessler in Infamous.

The graphical progression is highly noticeable. The world offers more detail and variety and character animations are more fluid. The characters themselves also look pretty amazing and facial animations have been improved as well. Powers familiar and new all look great, lighting is vibrant and striking and powers like ice are really well done and don’t look as clunky as they could have.

While most of the game will be familiar for fans of the previous fans a new edition to the game is User Generated Content or UGC. UGC are missions created and or “remixed” by infamous 2 players and then uploaded for the world to enjoy. From either a blank canvas or a pre existing template players can go in and crate their own missions, whether it be a race, an assassination, a platforming/collecting time trial or a straight up “survive the enemy onslaught’ its up to the player to decide how and what.

While the game is a great play there are some bugs/quirks but nothing that breaks the game. Small things like having an emery get stuck or sometimes just not acknowledge you at all. As i said nothing game breaking, no falling through the streets or flying cars this time.

All in all Infamous 2 is a great game and is deserving of at least a look. If you  wanna try the game to get a feel the demo is up on the Playstation store right now. If you’re new to the world of Infamous go play the first game and then come check out Infamous 2, It’s worth it, trust me.

Final score - 9/10

Playstation Plus and Amazon

IM EXCITE! Just got a 12 month Playstation Plus subscription from amazon (usually $50) for $20 + tax. A few days ago I saw an article that read Amazon.com had discounted the PS+ card down from its normal price of $50 down to $40. I was glad to hear this since I was planning to get a subscription since my ps3 died and I lost all my data, I wanted to recover the data I backed up onto the cloud during the free month of PS+ given to us PS3 users. I was fully prepared to spend the $40 on the service but when i went to complete my order I noticed that I was only being charged $20 + tax for the card/code. I was confused for a minute but after looking around for a bit I noticed I had a $20 coupon/gift card thing from when i pre-ordered a game (Killzone 3 i believe) and so my ending total instead of $40 was $20. This is a great deal because the 3 month subscription is around $18 so I ended up with a full year of service for a few dollars more than the 3 month service price. On top of this there was no shipping or waiting since all you need it the code, they show it right there on the screen and will email it to you as well. Good form Amazon. Good form!

IM NOT EXCITE

So my ps3, the one i just got back from Sony 3 months and 2 weeks ago failed and got the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD). I called Sony to ask if i was eligible for a free replacement since it was  so close to the 90 warranty given with a refurbished unit, of course i wasnt and i now have to give Sony ANOTHER $129 to replace this PS3. Check out the video to see the YLOD in action.

IM EXCITE

A Game Developer called DarkCryo is working on an MMO for the TV series Firefly. The game has apparently been in development for quite some time and is looking for backing from Fox and Mutant Enemy. This could be amazing and i hope there are plans to bring the game to the PS3, i can't afford to buy a pc just for one game.

Top Five: Cinematic Showdowns!

Well I think the title explains it all, but just in case allow me to expand upon it. I'm listing my top five favorite fights of all time. Now the idea is only to include fights between two opponents, so it’s like your basic duel type thing. I’m not including group fights or any fights that have one dude vs. a million. I’m only going for the classic 1 vs. 1 thing. I might do another post to include different kinds of fights but right now I just want to do this. Ok, so I’m starting at number five and working my way to number one. Let’s begin.

NUMBER FIVE: The Rock vs. Vin Diesel

From Fast Five, I know it’s a new fight, but it is still a great fight, and maybe the best thing to come from this movie. Both of these guys were expected to be the next big action stars and it didn’t really happen for either of them, so to see the two duke it out, was quite impressive. Plus the fight had a really gritty feel that, helped sell the intenseness of it. Not to mention that The Rock was fucking roided out in this film.

NUMBER FOUR: Obi Wan vs. Anakin Skywalker

From episode three, the best of the prequel trilogy. This fight was amazing. The special effects and the choreography of the fight were top notch. Was great to see Anakin’s final plunge into the dark side, and I also liked that the film really let the emotion of the fight shine through. All in all it was the best part of the prequel trilogy and it was a good way to transform the shy Anakin, into the evil Darth Vader.

NUMBER THREE: John Wayne vs. Victor McLaglen

From the Quiet Man. This is a great fight. Though not as serious as a fight as the other on the list, it is still a great fight. The humor and realness of the fight help make this fight my number three all time favorite. Not to mention that throughout the whole movie, you just can’t wait for John Wayne to go into boss mode and beat the shit out of Victor McLaglen. A great fight, and a great moment in film history.

NUMBER TWO: Rocky vs. Ivan Drago

From Rocky IV, my favorite Rocky film. This fight had it all, the underdog, revenge, patriotism. Unlike the Cold War, Rocky’s battle with Drago was quite a war. Seeking revenge for the death of his friend, Rocky agrees to fight this massive Russian against everyone’s wishes. Proving why he is the greatest fictional boxer of all time, Rocky steps into the ring with this giant of a man and wins. The fight is brutal, Rocky takes a hell of a beating but like any good underdog story, he keeps on kicking and never admits defeat.

NUMBER ONE: Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris

Yeah, I went there. From Way of the Dragon, this fight between a martial arts icon, and a man that is known for his roundhouse kicks is an amazing fight. Though not as chorographically advanced as some of today’s fights, the fight is still great for its classic feel. It’s also more of a fight of minds since both of the characters they were playing were masters at their craft. They each counter each other and know each others moves. All in all definitely my favorite fight of all time, and one of the coolest fights I have ever seen. R.I.P. Bruce Lee.

From dynasty to dynasty!

Just days after Phillips Seafood announced it is leaving Harborplace (mall around the inner harbor), there’s something new to take its place.

Have you ever been on a real shrimp boat? Do you even like shrimp?..... well if you said yes to either question this post is for you!

"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it." ....gotta LOVE BUBBA GUMP!

If you still haven't connected the dots well then Phillips seafood announced they are closing up shop at the Light Street Pavilion. In its place: Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, of “Forest Gump” fame. Set to open in May 2012 the restaurant features film memorabilia, photographs and reproductions of scripts, storyboards and costumes. There is also a retail store within the restaurant that sells souvenirs and clothing.

Shit why not whats yall FAVE forest gump quote heres mine!......"One day it started raining, and it didn't quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin' rain... and big ol' fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Shoot, it even rained at night..." Forest Gump

PS3 Near future i thinks so!

Ok funds are limited so far, and i know the PS3 (160gb) is roughly 299.99. And as any obvious gamer i want the most BANG for my buck. The following are just some questions i have and would like an opinion on.....

  1. Whats the deal with Refurbished systems?....Like i know they are "pre-owned" and all that jazz but i see game stop has a Sony Refurbished PS3 (250gb) for $279.99.....Should i even go this route?
  2. Have any of the Boys purchased any gaming merchandise online?... and if so would they suggest a site for me.
  3. Finally, im considering two "Bundle" packages...... Sony PS3 Starter Bundle (comes with ps3 160gb (my choice of with or without MW3) and a choice of one game for a list of 42) for about $329.99 ..........OR PS3 Greatest hits bundle same as above with a choice of one Greatest hits game(Killzone 2, MAG, God of War collection) and choice of game ( Ghostbusters, WWE legends of Wrestlemania, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of pray) for $319.99

EPIC FAIL!

So, this goes out to my boy Ross!
I've seen some epic fails bef0re but in the fishing world this takes the cake! Below is an article written and owned by gofishin.com but i have to show this fail!

We're not sure if fishing in camouflage really gives you an edge on the water. But if that's what helped Jackson Knoll catch this monster steelhead, a Moldy Chum "Slab of the Month" entry, we could be new believers of Fishouflage.

-Rick Bach

We're all for experimentation with fish camo, but this is a bit much.
Troutcamo

For anyone who don't know this is a RAINBOW TROUT and NOT a STEELHEAD!!!
SOOO FAAAILL!!!!
